Women Rebuilding Their Lives
The following text was copied from "O" The Oprah Magazine:
BE EXCELLENT How to lift your life to the
next level. "A Superior person bring out the best in
others" Quote by: Chinese proverb
Change is the
nature of life, It happens to us all. Transformation is more
deliberate, intentional; it calls for though and sometimes planning.
Take a moment to consider the following:
1. Write down a pivotal time in your life, an instance when you or
your circumstances changed dramatically.
2. Now think about how active you were in making that change
happen? If it hit without warning, how did you cope? Did you use
it as an opportunity to redefine yourself -- or your circumstances -- in
terms of the new reality?
3. Find a photo of yourself taken in the past, preferably on a
threshold occasion: sweet sixteen, first prom, graduation, first job,
wedding, etc. Place it alongside of a recent snapshot. Write down
two or three adjectives to describe the "you" pictured in each
photo. How have you changed? What part of your younger self
still lives on in "you" today?
4. Have you outgrown your life? Some telltale signs: Your
friends bore you; your family makes fun of your [new] interests; your
wardrobe is wrong for where you're heading; you feel underutilized at work;
you surprise yourself. Dare to step into a bigger arena.
Describe it in the space below.
5. "Should" is a word that keeps us trapped in our old patterns.
In order to clear the
way for transformation to occur, make a list of the shoulds
that are driving your life. Next to each, write an action you could
take toward loosening its grip.
"Excellence encourages one about life generally, it shows the spiritual
wealth
of the world." Quote by: George Eliot, Novelist
"Then give to the world the best you have, and the best will come back
to you"
Quote by: Madeline Bridges, Poet
You can't be the best at everything. Compete with yourself, raise your
own standards. et a goal and be meticulous about meeting it.
Excellence is a matter of intention. Aim to be fully present for
whatever happens, then see how much richer your life is, even when things
don't go your way.
"When we do the best that we can, we never know what miracle is wrought
in
our life, or in the life of another." Quote by: Helen
Keller
