DREAM BIG
"You are the only person alive who can see your big picture -- and
even you can't see it all." Quote by: Oprah Winfrey
Are you trying o find
your dream? Or do you have a goal but no idea how to make it a
reality? Every authentic life has times of not knowing. When you
don't have all of the answers, you're more open to the questions. Find
time to consider the following:
1. Gandhi said, "We must be the change we wish to see in the
world." Which area [s] of your life would you target first?
Who would you be then? How would your world, or the world around you
change? Write an imaginary news headline or press release announcing
the event.
2. To plan where you're going, you need to know where you are.
Inventory your skills, talents, wishes, and passions. Do you see any
patterns? Can you combine any items on your list; like a talent
for bringing people together with a wish to help a local art show that needs
some good Public Relations?
3. This Labor Day, don't even think of work. Explore your most
playful schemes. Write down five that come to mind. What steps
could you take toward making one of them happen?
4. Still not sure what you want? Try approaching it
sideways. Think of people you envy or admire. What is it about
them or their lives that you covet? e.g. Job, lack of job,
home, family, creative outlet, spiritual practice, vacation plans,
etc.? Which aspects could you incorporate into your life?
5. Once you have a goal, networking can make it happen. List the
names of potential mentors, friends who know everybody, neighbors who owe
you one, and anyone else with connections. e.g. your
hairdresser, your yoga teacher, etc. How could each help you realize
your dream?
"Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird
that
cannot fly." Quote by: Langston Hughes
"We know what we are, but know not what we may be."
Quote by: William Shakespeare
"The question should be, is it worth trying to do, not can it be
done."
Quote by: Allard Lowenstein, Political activist
