Something To Think About
Forget those pie
charts: A balanced life is what you say it is. Weigh your
expectations against reality, then decide if, and where, your life could use
some adjustment. Consider these aspects of balance:
POISE:
Do you meet most circumstances with grace, confidence, and
flexibility? What steps could you take to develop equanimity?
EQUILIBRIUM:
What's lacking in your life? Love, work, sex, security, solitude,
health / fitness, community, spirituality, fun, etc.? How could you
start filling the gaps?
HARMONY:
Were do you experience discord in relation to yourself, your environment,
and other people? How could you gain serenity?
EQUALITY: List
your important relationships and what each one is based on e.g.
Love, friendship, financial support, work, etc. How could you
create more balance in each?
PERSPECTIVE: Are
you satisfied with your life overall? Any regrets? Amends to
make? Burning desires?
Declare today "sacred time", off limits to everyone, unless
invited by you. Take care of your personal wants and needs. Say no,
graciously but firmly, to others' demands.
"Balancing a job and a family is not the hardest thing to
achieve. It's second, right after world peace." Quote
by: Barbara Dale, Cartoonist
"Order is not pressure which is imposed on society from without, but an
equilibrium which is set up from within." Quote by: Jose
Ortega y Gasset, Spanish philosopher, writer, and humanist
"Mix a little foolishness with your prudence: It's good to be
silly at the right
moment." Quote by: Horace, Roman poet and satirist
