”A
woman knows life takes shape in big and small spaces, and the
moments in between. When
we’re simply ourselves, in the everyday act of being, we don’t
have to move mountains or make miracles, but sometimes we do anyway.
You can see it in the many paths we take, and in how we come
together to create something greater than any one of us could alone.
Women change the world every day...”

The importance of establishing “A
Woman’s Corner” as
a Computer Based Instruction (CBI) Workshop is a cost effective
means of teaching interpersonal communications and other personal
development skills to women in transition, and other female and
underserved demographics. Many of the Workshops will also be
modified as youth orientation programs and distributed to PTA’s
and after school programs, and made available in areas that
otherwise would not have access to acquiring either the training or
the skills from other sources. The Lifestyle Makeover
Workshops for Women in Transition is designed primarily to assist
women to develop the self-esteem necessary to make appropriate
choices, and an easier transition within her everyday life.
She will become a more productive member of society, and be able to
develop values and work ethics traditionally reserved for
management, supervisory and other specialized career trainings.
It is well documented that when the standards of a neighborhood are
being undermine, as is the case in some of our inner-city
communities struggling for daily survival, interpersonal
communication skills, home economics and financial management are
not usually considered among the basic concepts for their normal
pursuit of happiness. When in reality the development of those
tenets are the underlying foundation for life, liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness, as well as an extremely important component in
the lifecycle for healthy human behavior; though in many communities
its residents are rarely afforded the opportunity to explore its
development as an option.
The 2001 census has documented that the majority of our population
is making do with very little. There is an estimated 268
million people in the United States and the midline salary is an
average of $42,873 per year. Only 27% are college educated,
and less than 4% have salaries of $100,000 or more.
Conversely, more than 73% of today’s female demographics in the
workforce are in the mid and lower socioeconomic income brackets.
Through no fault of their own, many women are ill prepared to
emotionally survive on their own, and are struggling financially at
a level just a little above poverty. An even greater
percentage lack the inner strength or skills necessary to overcome
the demands incumbent in her work life, and fewer are equipped with
the training necessary to even know how to shift her paradigm.
An unprecedented number of women in today’s workforce are doomed
by circumstances to a life of mediocrity. Consequently,
teaching women computer skills and other vocational and
rehabilitative trades is not sufficient alone to bridge the gap
between the inherent disparity of the social classes.
Therefore, the topics listed in the workshop series on
www.awomanscorner.com
is a starting point to begin to look at some the areas that have
often times gone neglected or undeveloped. Visitors to
the individual demographic listed on The Home Page are provided an
opportunity to explore the enhancements offered, or use the link
provided to engage the support of an online interactive workshop
program at www.oprah.com
equivalent to having your own Personal Development Coach. The
workshops can undoubtedly benefit a large segment of our female
population from varying backgrounds and age groups; diverse
cultures; and different geographic locations to develop skills that
will bring a higher quality of work ethic to her employment
situation, as well as increase the productivity at a level from a
population that was traditionally overlooked and discounted as
having little worth.
The workshops will both teach and reinforce interpersonal
communications, and help to redefine what is accepted social
behavior. The outcome
will be reinforced coping skills that when applied, will translate
into a happier, more secure, more productive woman. And, the
results will benefit her personal life, her social life, her
professional life and her community life. I believe that the
workshops on www.awomanscorner.com
will endeavor to support and
guide women to resources that help them to develop skills necessary to
perform better in the workplace, live more productive personal lives,
and reinforce training skills that they otherwise would not have access
to acquire, but are essential to bridge the division between a productive
socioeconomic society and an underserved population.
A
Woman’s Corner will solicit corporate sponsorship to finance onsite
workshops that will strengthen families and communities through the
productivity that women bring to it. When you first enter www.awomanscorner.com the
existing the demographics associated with each link listed below are
engaged, and will segue into an introductory personal developmental
assessment to begin the journey as outlined in the Proposed Series
& Workshop links.

Summary
The
categories on the Home Page of www.awomanscorner.com
are activated and will offer a preview of how one might get started
and begin a self-directed Computer Based Instruction (CBI) on
their home computer, and in some instances may be downloaded through
Web-TV. Each topic will be germane to the subject at hand with
practical, personal, exercises that offer suggestions for
alternative behavior.
Many women to www.awomanscorner.com
will come from backgrounds where there were no feasible role models.
Others, may come from lives where fear, anger, desperation,
hopelessness, low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy, or just being
overwhelmed with life is her plight.
In still other cases utter despair, may have kept her
grounded in a past where she continuously manifests behavior where
the results may be viewed in a less then positive manner. Each
behavior brings with it a cause and effect that is evident in the
performance of her work ethics, and over time will have an adverse
affect on her productivity. Unfortunately, this is not an
isolated statistic. The
typifies a large percentage of today’s female workforce whose
spirits are broken, and are contributing from one or more of these
baseline characteristics; and they unfortunately have become an
accepted part for the norm in today’s workforce.
Because we have the technology available to address every challenge
known to mankind, we also have the moral obligation to support the
development of a workforce that we have come to rely on.
Through the resources introduced on www.awomanscorner.com
we can begin to rebuild our communities and engage a workforce that
has otherwise been taken for granted; and somehow has fallen between
the cracks of society.
